About the Author

A multifaceted musician, composer, recording engineer, and creative professional with over four decades of experience.

Francis C. Steeno

Francis C. Steeno is a multifaceted musician, composer, and creative professional with over four decades of experience in music performance and production. Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Steeno's musical journey began with piano lessons in second grade, followed by saxophone instruction starting in sixth grade.

Steeno's formal training encompasses saxophone and vocal training throughout High School, complemented by three years of collegiate music and piano study. Further travels in the US, Canada, and Europe as a live performer in bands enhanced his professional experience. His comprehensive education spans multiple genres, including classical, pop, jazz, country, and avant-garde styles, providing him with a versatile foundation for artistic expression.

Since 1973, Steeno has maintained an active presence in live performance across diverse musical genres. His passion for original composition emerged during his high school years and has remained central to his artistic identity. Currently, he specializes in creating original musical compositions and producing multimedia advertisements that integrate music and video content.

With a longstanding interest in creative writing, Steeno embarked on his first book project in August of 2025. His hopes are to publish The Piano Edge in early 2026. The Piano Edge combines years of music expertise with his passion for written communication.

Teaching Philosophy

A flexible, student-centered approach to piano education

"My philosophy in private lessons is to start with short music passages and exercises, to beginner books, and flash card notation study, to early intermediate progressions, to Classical Sonatinas by Clementi, Beethoven, and Kuhlau, Inventions by Bach, to mixtures of pop, jazz, world music, blues, rhythmical elements, or any styling that gains traction. It's a passage of time, process."

Piano lessons open the door to an ongoing exploration of diverse cultures and musical traditions. This approach offers enduring enrichment, nurturing a profound appreciation for music and a broader understanding of the world.
